Abeer Alabdalla
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Al-Furat University in 2014 and my Master’s degree in Animal Biology from the University of Damascus in 2021. I graduated as the top-ranked student of my class and was awarded the Basel Al-Assad Award for Academic Excellence for two consecutive years. Based on my academic performance, I was appointed as a teaching assistant at Al-Furat University.
During my Master’s studies, I focused on reproductive biology, conducting research on follicular morphology, growth, and fetal development in sheep and goats following hormonal treatments. This work involved comparative and quantitative analysis of reproductive traits.
I later worked as a lecturer at the Department of Biology, Al-Furat University (2021–2024).
Since 2025, I am a Ph.D. student in Comparative Zoology at the Institute of Biology, Humboldt University of Berlin. My research focuses on the ontogeny and allometry of sexual size dimorphism in the harbour seal (Phoca vitulina). Using micro-computed tomography (μCT) and three-dimensional geometric morphometrics, I investigate how bone structure and morphology change during growth and differ between sexes, with the aim of linking these patterns to functional and ecological adaptations in mammals.
