I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Bologna, in Italy.
I completed a Master’s degree in Organismic, Evolutionary and Paleobiology at the University of Bonn. For my thesis, I examined the morphology and bone histology of Temnospondyl fossils from the Late Triassic Bonenburg site in North Rhine-Westphalia, discussing the implications for their extinction. In general, I am interested in the evolutionary biology, functional morphology and bone histology of early tetrapods.
My PhD project focuses on the evolutionary morphology of the pectoral girdle in Temnospondyli, investigating the potential correlation between variability in this structure and ecomorphological adaptations in different species. This could improve our understanding of the evolution of this group of early tetrapods and clarify the role of the pectoral girdle in the transition from water to land in vertebrates.
